Welcome to 7th grade math with Mrs. Ray! I am looking forward to the many exciting things to come this school year. Along with our move to the new Westbrook Middle School this winter we will be using a new math program called the Connected Mathematics Program 2 (CMP2) this year. I had the opportunity to work with this program last year as one of the pilot classrooms. There are some differences from last years Math Thematics program but I think the student will find it very engaging. Each unit (chapter) comes as a separate soft cover book. In order to keep these books in the best condition possible each student will be required to have a 3-ring binder that will serve as both their book cover and math notebook. My students last year were very excited about the light weight of their math textbooks since math has traditionally been one of the heaviest books in the pile!
I am also pleased to announce that I will have a student teacher from USM’s ETEP program this fall. Mr. Lucchese will join us from the start of school through December. I am very excited at the opportuity myself and the students will have to work with him.
Since we no longer have Edline I will use this blog throughout the school year to update parents on what is going on with your Team Dirigo student here at Westbrook Middle School.
Please feel free to email me with any questions or concerns as the year goes on:
